Duke Nukem forever: New Trailer = end of the world?
Johnny C:
The parts that aren't Duke awkwardly lifting and dropping weights don't look bad. The later parts are in dire need of a physics engine.
I don't know why people don't just use Havok, honestly.
KvP:
Looks like it's using a modified UE3 (as if there was any other sort), though certainly not near the caliber of Mass Effect or even Bioshock. Given that, what little of the physics I saw actually looked pretty decent. In most UE3 games objects, though incredibly bulky, feel like they have very little mass when tossed around. Anybody who played Gears of War can attest to this.
But the engine isn't everything, though it might be in this case, given the fact that this game will most likely be a straight-ahead shooter. A game like STALKER can come out with a pretty ugly engine and acquit itself.
I guess what it comes down to is how much they'll be relying on people's nostalgia to make this game work. With the legendary delays, I don't know how far that will take them.
Spinless:
If it plays at least as good as the old trailers for the original engines look, and damn they look good, it'll likely be a huge amount of fun.
Time to make tracks.
Cartilage Head:
BALLS OF STEEL.
Narr:
It's time to kick ass and chew bubble gum.
And I'm all out of gum.
