New Year's Resolutions 2008 Edition
C Patrick Carolan:
--- Quote from: C Patrick Carolan on 28 Dec 2007, 01:21 ---- Not be late for work, and arrive early enough to park in the far away parking lot (thus saving $2 a day!)
- On that note, bring a lunch and thermos of coffee to work with me so I don't need to buy it every day.
- Open my mail the day it shows up in my mailbox... seriously, I've been known to leave bank statements unopened for years on end.
- Sell off about half of my action figure collection.
- No Facebook or LiveJournal after 12:30AM... this one will be tough to stick to.
- Actually ask girls out on dates... and try not to fall in love with girls who already have boyfriends.
- Update my comic on at least a weekly schedule.
--- End quote ---
Yep. All failed epically. Though I guess there's still time for #4 and the first half of #6....
Patrick:
Okay yeah I have just entirely given up on my verses thing. I am, however, in the process of writing an actual song, lyrics and all, all by myself, so we'll see how this turns out. Unfortunately, when I record it, if you listen real careful, it's just a blatant ripoff of "Star Guitar" by Shinichi Osawa put to the vocal melody of "Hearts of Oak" by Ted Leo.
Last year's "record an album" resolution (I hope not to make a habit of doing that) is about 1/3 of the way done. The song I just mentioned is going to be part of it, and I'm scouring iTunes with some friggin' steel wool to find stuff I can rip off without it being too noticeable.
calenlass:
Inspired by Lunchbox's 365 photograph things and my resolution to figure out my camera and learn how to get shots that are not so hell ass-blurry, I am doing a couple of random shots every day. Most are never going to be posted, but so far I think it might be helping a little! I am still only using the timer setting, though, and I do not know how to get across the room (where it should be in focus) in time for the camera to actually focus before the 10-second timer goes off, so most of the ones that have worked are closer shots and shots not of me.
tania:
i think i'm going to need to revise my resolutions a bit and add something about trying to find a job or volunteer position that actually has something even remotely to do with the sort of work i want to do after i graduate. nearly every masters program i want to apply for after school requires millions of years of relevant work experience and those jobs subsequently require millions of years of volunteer experience. i have nothing on my resume whatsoever except a couple of years of picking up boxes and putting them down somewhere else, hosting a shitty radio show once a week that doesn't pay me anything and pissing off other graduates by calling them and asking for money. i am graduating in just over a year and it is freaking me out. waaaaahhh.
Chrasstor:
I'm failing hard on all of my resolutions already.
It shouldn't be so hard to do things that you want to do.
