Who snowboards/skis?

KickThatBathProf:
Cross-country is good.  Whenever I go downhill I always have the unfortunate problem of not being able to stop.
Then I start running into things and it stops getting fun

Ecco:
I've been skiing for all my life. I just came back from a weekend skiing in Vermont, actually. I tried snowboarding a few times and struggled to really get it down. Skiing's great though, so have fun.

Dude, Norway is a pretty affluent country.

Also the snow.

Snowboarding every year since I was 3.
Mt. Hood.

Or that you're in the tundra/taiga.

And while the down-hill ski hill back home is a shining example of a small town cornered market business, the cross-country place is run like a commune, with cheap rentals, honour system for payment, and all work being put in by volunteers. It's a pretty sweet place.

P.S. The fact that my ski club is in Labrador, with a population density of about a tenth of a person to the square kilometer, makes me feel good about the many kilometers the ski club spans. It's just kind of a drop in the puddle and nobody is trying to use that land. The caribou are still kicking around.
If Greenland melts and mucks up the gulf stream, though, that'll change everything hereabouts.
