BCUZ BEING ELCECTIC MEANZ U TIHNK MOAR BOUT MUSIX.

its true i raed it on wikpedea

Jackie Blue:
I have always said that my "eclectic" taste in music is just an incidental side-effect of mental illness.

There is a potentially serious answer, I guess.  Since one of the hallmarks of being truly Zen is the ability to hold two thoughts in one's mind simultaneously without going bonkers, it could follow that being able to hold the appreciation of radically different styles in mind signifies that you have a deeper-than-visceral understanding of sound waves.

...or something.  I'm not drunk enough to have this discussion yet.

It's not the exact same but it's very similar. Mine used 8 similar artists while that handy little link used the top 5.

a pack of wolves:

I don't think it is necessarily better, I reckon a lot of the basis for the claim that narrowing down isn't as good comes from the consumerist record collector mindset. Then again, I'd say it also comes from people who're dismissive and prejudiced about certain kinds of music without good reason. And probably a few other things lobbed in as well. Personally, I reckon that if it's what really drives you then sticking to metal is as fine as going for a buffet approach. Both have their advantages and disadvantages.
