The new album was not shocking at all if you got the Woman King EP before that. That was probably necessary.

Inlander:
The Creek Drank the Cradle is an excellent, beautiful album.

Our Endless Numbered Days is not much more than an attempt to re-produce the success of Creek, but with better production and a few little bits and pieces added here and there. As such it comes off as patchy and vaguely unsatisfying.

The Calexico collaboration and Woman King are both good, but they've become footnotes somewhat with the release of the Shepherd's Dog, which is absolutely sumptuous and the logical progression of the sound that was being developed on both of those E.P.s.

In conclusion: if you're just starting out, get the Creek Drank the Cradle and the Shepherd's Dog.

Probably.  I had a couple songs off of Woman King as well.  I couldn't really get into it as easily as Our Endless Numbered Days, the Passing Afternoon EP, and The Creek Drank the Cradle.

IronOxide:
Maybe because it's the first Iron and Wine that I got, and I tend to prefer whichever album I hear first, but I like Woman King more than I like The Shepard's Dog or Our Endless Numbered Days, even though I love them all good amounts.

More like underpants and cheap domestic beer.
