Chiptunes Ahoy!

(1/2) > >>

muteKi:
I've always been into videogames and music. Here is what happens when the two meet up:
Genesis-style chiptune songs that I created.

This was from an old project where I was going to create a modded fangame of Sonic 2, and I planned original music. Until  yesterday all I had was some music I had composed in MIDI format for easy viewing and editing. But yesterday I finally figured out how to use a tracker that has the capabilities of the YM2612 (Main Genesis sound chip), and started converting them into a tracker format!

The FM samples I used aren't the greatest, but that I think is partly because the tracker's sound driver isn't the best, though I really don't do much FM synthesis so I'm not good at making good samples. Note that "Mecha Green Hill" is neither an original composition nor fully completed. There's a final section I haven't yet added.

..Any chance of another file format? Does this work in winamp?

FireAarro:
You need a winamp plugin for them to work:

Giving these a listen now...

muteKi:
Actually, there's a VGM patch for winamp that you can get here.

If you'd rather just get an mp3 format over possibly downloading that (and winamp) I've uploaded that here.

FireAarro:
I reckon they're pretty decent game tunes. I'm not really familiar with the medium (Sega music). Tell me more about it?

Here's a Game Boy tune I made with LSDJ for my friend's school project (film):
