Triple J Hottest 100 '07

--- Quote from: gardenhead_ on 27 Jan 2008, 06:01 ---I've only really heard him live, and from that I do not intend to ever listen to him again. The music and Muscles himself are so simple and boring that it's almost insulting. He seemed to put no effort into the music and the only interaction he had with the crowd was when he reminded them who he was after every fucking song and when he kept telling people to "get into it".

I can see why you'd dislike him then. The major (read: only) difference between Muscles' music live and on record is that on record he has about 50 vocal layers in every song which makes the songs not completely suck like they can live. You probably wouldn't like him anyway though.

It's true, we do hate fun. We listen to fun music for the irony of the situation.
What is this 'Triple J hottest 100?' :|

--- Quote from: McTaggart on 27 Jan 2008, 10:27 ---It's probably got a lot to do with radio play rather than some songs on the album that didn't get played much being pretty ok. Muscles works really well in a radio setting, LCD Soundsystem not so much. Their catchy song that got airplay was hard to take seriously but not so clearly a joke that it was fun. Constantly thinking "oh god they can't be serious" doesn't translate to good times which doesn't translate to many votes. Songs that get played at parties and generally times you're buzzing do better, hence all the dance and rock and Regina Spector's John Lennon cover placing so far down.
You also have to consider that triple j's audience is not you, it seems to be the sort of people who carry on their innane little conversations with Rosie Beaton every weekday and call up the radio at 1 in the morning to brag about how pissed they're getting.

Yeah, I lost faith in Triple J a long time ago. fbi 94.5 is much better, but they have shitty hosts in the morning now. Hopefully it won't go the way of Triple J.
Also I can completely understand why people like him, it's just annoying that there's a lot of way better dance music out there and yet Muscles gets the audience. Oh well.

My verdict:
Plus points for JBT, minus points for pretty much everything else.
