Bacon $food
RedLion:
Does bacon taste the way it smells?
Infinitely better. Which is saying a lot, because bacon smells something wonderful.
I'm still advocating these things. I've got to try it for myself sometime. The best part is failing utterly when trying to cook something totally awesome. For example, I tried to make pumpkin pie from scratch--that is, from an actual pumpkin. It wound up tasting like squash-flavored oatmeal with crust. But it was fun to make it.
Slick:
Sounds like your squash wasn't cooked through. The best way to do such is to bake/roast it, making sure it's fully done. Cut it in half, put it in the oven, and bake away. A fork/knife should be able to easily pass the whole way through it when it's done, and peeling it should be a trivial task (once it's cooled). Erring on the side of over-done isn't usually a problem, because it'll just caramelize a little more, but make sure not to use any clearly burnt parts of the pumpkin (if it's too close to the heat or the peel is burnt.
Then, you know, add some egg, sugar, spice, garlic, bacon bits, and cocoa powder.
Also, if you have too much pumpkin stuffing, mix together some flour and baking powder, then add that to the pumpkin until you get a nice cake batter consistency, then bake it at a cake temperature for a while, until tothpick-tested as done.

Mole is quite possibly the most interesting and delicious thing I have ever tasted of the Mexican variety.
A genius must have invented this.
Seriously, who would have thought "Hey, maybe if stick some chile peppers and a bunch of other weird stuff into some delicious chocolate it'll create something that won't taste like absolute shit."

Clearly you have never tried the stock concentrate by itself.

I think my favorite part of this thread is the bizarre extraneous dollar sign in the title. I like the concept of something costing food dollars.
