Garth Brooks
« on: 28 Jan 2008, 16:42 »

Did you guys watch his live special the other night? I thought it was a cool thing for him to do for the firefighters and all, and it clearly worked, because I heard they sold all of the tickets in under an hour, which seems amazing...

But the show itself, at least the part they showed on TV... kind of disappointing. I mean, he's still fun to watch, and the stuff they showed was all right, but there was too much new stuff/Huey Lewis and not enough classic Garth. And too many commercials. Wouldn't they have raised more money if they had held off on commercials for an hour and just let Garth do his thing on stage and shown everyone at home all the songs they really wanted to see? Or shown more than an hour of the concert (which equaled to about 5 songs... one of which featured Huey Lewis)?

Am I the only one that watched it?

I am extremely sad to hear that Huey Lewis has stooped to associating himself with Garth Brooks. Not that I know anything about Huey Lewis apart from Fore being a good record, but still. Damn.

I am (un)ashamed to say that I own one (1) Garth Brooks album - Live in Dublin. I am also (un)ashamed to say that last Thursday I sang "Friends in Low Places" (sans the 3rd verse) at karaoke.

I actually really liked the whole Chris Gaines thing when it happened. Also, I was pretty young.

The name was familiar, so I googled him.

I think this man, he is gay for himself! I imagine that his bedroom is full of mirrors and his halls full of nude paintings of himself that he painted himself! He looks like he thinks he is god, therefore more important than I am! Worse than that, he must think he is more important than my bride to be, Leslie!

This HAS to mean he is an asshole and his music sucks.

That...I could have gone forever without seeing that.  But because I can, I will contribute!

You win.

I know. Which is why we should consider hassling the hell out of Garth.

I would have watched it except for the crappy music.

The thing that bothers me most about people like Garth Brooks is how their entire self-presentation is built around false personality and audience manipulating.
