Good question. I go offline to replace my computer and my shiny thread is murdered. Sadness. So is anyone else here a pyrographer or is anyone willing to try their hand at the fine art? Also that image is way advanced and is with more modern tools. I do medieval pyrography, actually. Its not nearly as pretty but it has open flames and the tools are a bit more affordable.

a long time ago my dad used one of those wood-burner things to burn a big rose into his acoustic guitar; it looked awesome.

unfortunately this guitar no longer exists (to my knowledge) and i have no pictures of it.

That's cool. You should try to find a picture. The wood burners you can get at retail stores are very different from those from a specialty shop, partly because you have less control over temperature. This means you can do more than just wood. There are some people who use very low temperature and can create masterpieces on paper.

I use wrought iron bits with different points and then use gold and silver leafing to add detail. Sometimes this backfires but here is the example I had provided before. This was created for my local SCA chapter.
