There's a thread about this phenomenon over at Electrical - at least, in terms of the headlines.

"Waffle House brawl lands Kid Rock in jail" kind of says it all. This one took me a couple of reads before I understood what was odd about it. And significant Onion-esque gallows humour in "Pit bulls kill miniature horse donated to cancer-stricken boy in Pampa."

The world is a weird, weird place.
