TheFuriousWombat:
So the new Mountain Goats album has found its way out and I've given it a cursory listen as of a few hours ago. I'm impressed. Darnielle, as always, is a great and distinctive vocalist and a wonderful lyricist. I still find myself missing the ultra low-fi days of All Hail West Texas but since they're long gong and multiple instruments and shiny production have become standard I have to settle. The songs here are stronger than some of the more recent albums in many cases. The first two songs are terrific but not a lot of others stand out distinctly (I guess I'll update my thoughts after further listens). In some ways the lyrics seem to lack the short story quality of earlier albums and are a lot more song-y which is kinda disappointing but the lyrics are still stronger than most out there. Overall my initial impressions are very good. What do you guys think?

I can't seem to find the thing in the mediafire thread, and the search bar isn't working for me. Would I be doing a disservice to the thread if I requested an upload or a link?

TheFuriousWombat:
Not a problem. It's not my upload but it's in mp3. The bit rates seem to be between 170 and 224 (mostly around 200). Enjoy.

Well, the album does come out tomorrow.

I don't usually download leaks of artists I adore as much as The Mountain Goats, so me and my friends are going to be at the record store tomorrow when it opens to get it. I'm really excited! I've mostly heard great things about it. They say it's very different, but still great.

That seems to be a trend in his work.  At least, the first two tracks on The Sunset Tree, Tallahassee, and the first three on We Shall All Be Healed are some of, if not the most memorable tracks on all those albums.  I wish he would have done more with the violins and stuff, like in "Linda Blair Was Born Innocent."

I can't wait to hear this new one.
