For the record, I'm going off of heresay. The other day, when Jeph got drunk and changed around some shit on the boards, the topic of the Sandbox's closing came about and most of the people in there who were around back then cited Kieffer as initiating the flame war. I'm not blaming Kieffer for the Sandbox's closing, I'm blaming people egging him on to do something similar. I was looking through the Sandbox the other day for some history on it and it's obvious to anyone willing to dig that it wasn't purely Kieffer's fault, but he did get the ball rolling after being egged on by a bunch of others. He was clearly remorseful, but it still happened. No offense to Kieffer, but with his current detatchment from the forums and his overall antagonistic attitude, I really wouldn't put it past him to go in there and say something douche baggish. Given, that's far from starting a flame war, but all it takes is one offended WCTer to look at his post history, think "Hey, this guy's kind of a cock" and then follow his post trail back here whereupon it escalates into the same garbage that killed the Sandbox. I'm also not saying or implying Kieffer's the only person who would do this. On the wrong day, I could picture myself doing something like that.
I actually like Kieffer and enjoy his posts, but forum-wise: he really earned his antagonist rep. Given, I've heard he's actually a really nice and fun guy in person, but his forum persona is really little more than an antagonist at this point. It seems like one in every ten posts is something productive, whereas the other nine are either him ridiculing someone, exclaiming his superiority or outright just being kind of a cock. I won't say I don't find it funny, as I've never been on the shit end of his abuse and I know it's mostly an act, but you must be able to see how newer folks wouldn't see him as anything but a prick.
