Brass question

(1/4) > >>

Liffguard:
Okay, a slightly unusual question here. I'm looking to incorporate trumpet and other brass instruments into hard-rock and even metal and I'm looking for some reference points. Can anyone recommend any good rock/metal bands that have successfully integrated brass instruments? Thanks.

imapiratearg:
Cursive's later material.   Particularly some tracks off of The Ugly Organ and just about all of Happy Hollow.

a pack of wolves:
Rocket From The Crypt (somebody had to say it) and Bulbul. I'm not sure if all Bulbul's material features a trumpet player since I believe their line-up is pretty variable but the self-titled album does to excellent effect, and they might be of interest to you since it sounds like you might be going for a reasonably heavy sound and Bulbul have a pretty hefty Melvins influence.

Thrillho:
Get 'Milk Lizard' by Dillinger Escape Plan.

Thanks guys, I'll definitely be checking those out. S'funny, as soon as I'd posted the topic I suddenly remembered another band I'd heard a while ago that did it quite well. A japanese band called Sigh, they were using saxaphone (technically woodwind, I know) to pretty good effect.
