Mew is a pretty great Danish indie-pop band.

Nowadays they're more prog (in the Genesis sense of the word) than indie.

Though they have been said: Mando Diao, Shout Out Louds, and Under Byen. I'm not sure but I don't think anybody said it, but Junior Senior. They are pretty fucking ridiculous.

Figurines are about as non-metal as you can get - like Mercury Rev. But, uhm, Danish.

Well there are a few things i would recomend as a scandinavian (danish to be excact).

Powersolo are a very entertainting rock n roll trio, very americana ish but with great humor and lots of cool odd songs. Cat Nazer and Knucklehead are faves of mine.
http://www.myspace.com/powersolo

Emily and the Orgasm Addicts
are also danish and also play rock n roll, with a kinda punky sound and female vocals. The released their debut back in Oct. 2007 so they are brand new.
http://www.myspace.com/emilyandtheorgasmaddicts

Dinosaur Machine are some danish hard-rockers yet to release any albums but they hame some cool hard-hitting riffs.
http://www.myspace.com/dinosaurmachine

My last recomendation are Future Garage Sale Item which is made up of some very experienced (older) danish rock-dudes who play a classic rock kind of thing. Sounds a bit like Audioslave. They have also just released their debut.
http://www.myspace.com/futuregaragesaleitem

As my recomendations show i am a rock dude, so if you are into that kind of thing these are real goodies. Hope you enjoy!

My old roommate was all about Scandinavian pop. Annie is from Norway, and she is extremely rad. Also, September had at least one song that was pretty good, but most of her music was just too much for me.

Also, Bjork. Her name is like a gentle zephyr caressing the surface of a still pond.

I'd like to recommend the artists of Hybris records (www.hybrism.com). They have a bunch of free tunes on their web page of Swedish artists like Elias & The Wizzkids, Montt Mardie, Vapnet etc, and unlike most record companies, they actively encourage people to spread their music on P2P networks.

You might check out JopLin out of Utrecht, Netherlands (not really scandinavian, I know, but close enough). They have a great bluesy/jazzy sound that is quiet enough to throw in the word folk. Their webpage is (or was) http://www.joplinmuziek.nl/. I am at school however and the internet is shoddy, so that might not work. I know (and I hate to say this) that they used to have a Myspace music account with a couple of pieces uploaded so you might check that out. Couldn't tell you what their page is though.

The best of the songs that I have are "Sigaretten en Sherry" and "Sterven met Spijt." Hope you understand dutch though.

Norwegian folk? It's quite nice..Unfortunately I haven't heard enough to recommend any bands/artists, but if you manage to find any..

And also freakish Finnish folk!

Maybe it would be metal for some, but it is pretty folk. Empyrium, the later in their career you go, the folkier it gets. I love "When at night....."

From Finland, do not forget Pan Sonic, masters of shocking electronic sounds.

Well you have gåte (Gaate)
Norwegian folk rock, awesome music.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=mes1pKLax-Y

And bertine zetlitz who is Norwegian and apart from having great style and looking mental she has a beautifull voice.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=uN1GdoI1Z8E

Seigmen and Zeromancer is a must. They are two of my favorite bands. Seigmen only sings in norwegian and Zeromancer is the same band minus the drummer(?) and they are more synth/electronica.

Seigmen: http://youtube.com/watch?v=ck6tJXU4D6o
Zeromancer: http://youtube.com/watch?v=M6ft0j0Ok2E

Enjoy :D

Let's get this show on the road.

From Finland: Desert Planet, Aavikko, Loituma, Jori Hulkkonen, YUP, CMX, Lodger, Zen Café, Branded Women, Terveet Kädet, Cleaning Women, Jukka Poika ja Jenkkarekka, Kapteeni Ä-ni and last but not least I Was a Teenage Satan Worshipper.
Whew! That's a lot of videos, I'll be back with more later. (Branded Women is just a link to their myspace site and Terveet Kädet is punk. Not metal.)

I couldn't not agree more on this. Their music is horrid, which makes all the media hype even more sickening.
Thankfully most magazines in Denmark did manage to get Johan Wohlert's cock out of their mouths long enough to give them the crap reviews they deserve.
