Ridiculous Decadency

i buy a ridiculous amount of fair trade and organic food in an attempt to alleviate some of the guilt i feel for destroying the environment in about 10,000 other ways. it works pretty okay, but is mostly probably a pretty stupid thing to do because i actually have no money and this only pushes me further into poverty.
i buy a lot of american apparel clothing, too. i can't really justify this at all, in my experience it always costs way too much and isn't really very good quality anyway. somehow i am always drawn to them regardless.

My fiancee and I are considering purchasing ski equipment. This despite the fact that we've gone skiing exactly twice in the past several years, both times earlier this year. We went to one ski shop that attempted to sell us $600 boots; we're not prepared to be quite that decadent, so we're planning to go to another ski shop where hopefully we can find gear more reasonably priced.

As a student my computer expenditures were arguably decadent, but these days considering how crucial my computers are to my work, my computer spending habits seem rather niggardly. For example, while I have two computers, my laptop is currently broken and I keep not getting around to getting my laptop repaired. Considering how useful said laptop would be to have available, even without warranty coverage (ie. I'd be paying for the repairs in full) it's pretty stupid of me not to simply take it to the apple store and at least get an estimate.
Along the same lines, I recently made a huge purchase within Second Life; that could be considered decadent, but it is directly relevant for the store I run there.
