Ridiculous Decadency
Ladybug:
Man, this thread is making me realize (again, but even more so) how fucking expensive this country is as opposed to the US. I get that we make more money etc, but it still sucks. $50 for a bra is pretty much what I'd expect to pay if I wanted something I knew would last me more than a few months and actually be comfortable. And $40 Levi's jeans? Damnit, $75 is considered to be cheap for jeans here - if I wanted something with a label anyone's actually heard of, I'd have to spend way more.
Patrick:
I don't wear hats anymore unless they're those tight-fitting knit ones. I love those things. I have an awesome one from the GAP that my sister gave me for Christmas one year. It is blue with a red reindeer. If I can manage it, I will post pics.
And hey Ladybug at least you're not in a country where a pair of Levis costs like $120. How these people afford clothing at all...
Ladybug:
$120 for a pair of Levi's sounds "reasonable" to me - in the sense that 120 and more is what I've seen Levi's cost here for the last few years. I know my cousin got a pair of Levi's at about $150, and they were on sale.
Patrick:
I've always bought mine for like $50 or less, sometimes as far down as $20 (yay for 501s), and those are the exact same jeans that cost $120 here. Fuckin' ridiiiiiculous.
Now, if we were talking about raw organic denim with non-synthetic indigo I'd have no argument about $120 jeans. Those fuckers had better fit like God put them on me, though.
Ladybug:
I just checked this Norwegian online store, which is sort of "normally priced", meaning they're not particularly cheap or particularly expensive, and a pair of stonewashed or black 501s were $137. Insaane, imo.
Which pretty much means I stick to the $75 jeans with random store-specific brands, at least for now. I really want nice looking jeans, though.
