The Dismemberment Plan- Emergency and I
It's a great segue between dancy, quirky indie-pop and DC-style post-punk/post-hardcore.

Also, if you want stuff with kinda folkish, classical-guitarish stuff, my favorite local band El Olio Wolof may be a good listen for you. You can find a live video of them here.

Not really indie staple, however FREAKING AMAZING that record is (TDP - E&I).
