Splendour in the Grass '08
« on: 22 Apr 2008, 19:08 »

The line up was announced today on triplej. It includes:
Band of Horses
MSTRKRFT
PNAU
The Presets
Cold War Kids
Devo
Sigur Ros
The Panics
and lots more than I can remeber or be bothered to write up.

Here's the link for more info http://w3.splendourinthegrass.com/

Unfortunately I won't be allowed to go due to things totally beyond my control.

The fact that Sigur Ros in there is very exciting. I hope that means that they'll drop by Perth again, their last gig was (obviously) HUGE.

God, some of their songs just feel so spacious and just continue to spread out. Then there is Band of Horses another atmospheric band I've wanted to see live for a long time now.

Is that the first lineup announcement they make BEFORE tickets go in sale? Usually the first lineup announcement is complete dogshit and tickets sell out, so I will definitely be all over that shit. I haven't ever actually been to a Splendour, but I will sure as hell go to this.

I have no fucking idea how I'm going to get to Byron Bay, but I'm going to get there.

If I could go they'd be the last thing I'd see.

Also, tickets don't go on sale for a few weeks (May).

Even if the entire line up was shit, it'd be worth going for the atmosphere. I've only been to 1 and I missed most of the bands i wanted to see, but i still had an absolute blast. Heres hoping the ticket sales system isn't completely fucked this year.

This is by far the best lineup I've seen for Splendour. I'm not really enough into any of the bands to go though.

EDIT: Actually, I'm probably thinking of the wrong festival, seeing as the 2006 lineup had Sonic Youth and DJ Shadow and Brian Wilson.

I don't think I'll go. Some bands would be fun to see, but not enough to justify spending $199+. I am very very excited for Sigur Ros sideshows though. Last time I saw them they blew my mind. I wish I could have gone to 2006's Splendour. Sonic Youth, Mogwai, TV on the Radio, DJ Shadow, Brian Wilson. Maaaaaan.

Dovey, honestly you should have just come over for this instead of PT and then Brovey could have spent an entire weekend getting off our chops.

Because I am definitely going to this.
