I'm surprised there hasn't been a topic about this yet as the movie pulled in something like $50 million the first weekend.

I thought it was pretty great.  It's easily one of the best animated shows I've seen in a really long time and does Dr. Seuss justice.

But did it make up for the Cat in the Hat and Grinch live action movies? Those weren't very good. At least they animated the Horton movie in CGI, and judging from the trailers and commercials, they captured and updated Seuss's art style well.

I didn't think the Grinch was terrible, to be honest, but I seem to be in the small margin.

Like I said, this one really did Seuss justice.  The art was almost perfectly reminiscent of Seuss and the humor was very well done (there's a few things in there kids won't really get but that older people will laugh at, like this JFK impersonation at one point).

I highly recommend it.

I like it, except that when I thought it was gonna rhyme, it didn't.

And also that it used big words, like minuscule. Like the kids are gonna know what that is?

From my friends I've heard a resounding bunch of "meh."  I saw it and wasn't insanely impressed.  I have to honestly say that I enjoy the cartoons from the 70's or 60's or whenever over these feature length movies.  I think it's MUCH better that they're doing it in CG, but the fact that they're making it feature-length detracts from the wittiness of Seuss.  Also I'm not a huge Steve Carrell fan, he's amazing in The Office, but his humor doesn't really transcend very well to other projects.

I saw it with my girl friend the other week cause there was nothing else on and I was really surprised by how much I liked it. I guess because I was going in expecting  waste of my money I really enjoyed it. Lots of fun.

My favorite part was the anime parody it did.  Quite funny in my honest opinion.
