Today I became a grownup and accepted a job offer*! I even set a start date that allows me to take a two week vacation to Hawai'i! The whole world celebrates with me! The sun shines! The birds sing! The trees are in fragrant bloom!
I'm just a little excited. I now plan to get lightly to moderately drunk.

Not when it's through the geology department! I'm not even sure we'll be coving marine life or if we do, it'll only be a small part. The last three weeks have been things I either learned in high school bio (bacteria, algae, etc.) or the astronomy classes I took last year (birth of the solar system, oceans on other moons, birth of the planet).

Even though I know other wise, every time I hear "birth" in that context my hyper-imaginative inner child thinks the ripened and fell like fruit.

The first I heard about it was on the news. Maybe I just wasn't out and about early enough..
In other news, while I was waiting for my sandwich in the sandwich shop today, a lady started speaking to me in Italian. When I told her I didn't speak Italian, she replied "Oh, you're Spanish?"
Best inadvertent compliment ever.
