Help me with my bands Tour. (MA, PA, NJ)
« on: 08 Apr 2008, 10:57 »

Hey,

I mostly lurk on here, but occasionally will post here and there.  Anyway, I am in a band called Inspector Owl we are doing a short tour from our home (Chicago, IL) out to the east coast and back.  I have some holes that I am trying to fill.  So far with very little luck.  I am looking for any kind of help I can get, if it is contacts, or if any of you are in bands in the area who think they could help me out, or if anyone wants to throw a house show we are down for that.   You can hear music at www.myspace.com/inspectorowl  we play fun kind of dancey indie stuff.

I have holes on Monday June 2nd, Tuesday June 3rd and Friday June 6th.    For the 2nd and 3rd I am looking for anything from Baltimore all the way up to Massachusetts.   The 6th I am looking for anything around New York or between there and Athens, Ohio.

Sorry if this post is not appropriate but I know a lot of the folks on this board are in bands and all that kind of stuff.  Thanks!

You can email me [email protected]  or aim - theoristb

Are you playing anywhere in Vermont?  'Cause if you're aren't, you should.  Check out the Langdon Street Cafe website right here.  I have no guarantees about crowd turn-out, though.  It's a nice cafe in the capital, and I know there's a good scene there that appreciates all types of music, but if it's on a weekday or something, most of the kids that frequent the place probably won't show.  There are also many a good place to play nearby.

Those Who Fear are from PA.

They hooked me up with some decent show trades for a couple bands, so they can probably help you out.

Excellent, You both rock.  I had not really considered Vermont, I just assumed that it would be to far north, but I think I can make it work.  Thanks!

I will look in to Those Who Fear.  Playing with a metal band would be interesting.

You should also make this thread on Electrical Audio.

There are a lot more bands, bookers and the like over on that forum.

It might be down right now but it will be up again before the evening is through.

If your thinking about coming to philly, it might be a long shot but try Sean Agnew at R5 productions, he puts up a TON of local shows.

Their website is http://www.r5productions.com
it has contact info and whatnot there.

Might as well plug myself.

If you're coming through Central IL [Springfield, Decatur] or St. Louis, MO.

My house, Pi Lam, is often a live venue ... I don't know if we do shows during the summer but you can try it.

I will hit you up for sure this fall.  We aren't going through there this summer, but in the fall we will for sure.  Thanks!

I tried Sean, but did not get an answer, I think from looking at his page he does mainly larger shows and not week night shows for unknown touring acts.  Thanks!

This is all way more responses that I was expecting, which I think is a testament to the awesomeness of this sub forum on the board.  Awesome!

I contacted them and was hooked up with a show within a couple of hours.  Thanks for the suggestion.  It makes our routing a bit wonky but still not crazy.  Thanks!

NoHo's a little too far out of my way (like..hour and 15 minutes). Come play in the Berkshires, man.

I'll talk to the manager at the restaurant I sometimes work the door for. They're starting to get bands on a regular basis.

Cool, are there any fun bands from the area who might also want or be able to play?

I just listened to your stuff.  Suffice to say, I really hope the let us do the same thing we did for The Wards.  I'm going to try and get all the people I can get to go.

I remember loving your band way back when you posted it in the "personal bands" thread, and I'd love to see you play in New York.

I'm currently talking to a few contacts, I'll post back when I know more.

The only ones springing to mind right now are Next President (my mate Noel's band) and a group out of upstate New York called Firefighter Font. I'll talk to the manager tonight when I'm working a show. Need to ask her about maybe doing an album release party for myself in June, as well.

Awesome!  Where at in NY?  We have a show in NYC at Pianos on June 5th.

There's a ton of venues all pretty much down the block from Pianos. Arlene's Grocery, Max Fish, the Cake Shop, to name a few.

You can count me at that Piano's show.

I'd suggest giving Arlene's a ring and trying to book a show there. It's a great venue.

Awesome.  Say hi if you make it out to Pianos.  I am the singer guitar guy.
