What's it about? Well, terrorists, and the government becoming terrorists and using terrorism tactics to fight a totalitarian government.
You've read that already, you say? Well, you have. But not like this.
Cory Doctorow (Co-Editor of Boing Boing, and a million other things. He's like a super-blogger.) has written Harry Potter for geeks.

You can't say it isn't cool, even if you didn't like it. They can hack tubes of toilet paper to find cameras, and teach you how.
That's not all, folks! It also includes an extremely responsible sex scene. In a young adult book. Worth reading, just for that.

Where I live, it was a freaking sensation. Everyone I know that can use the alt key has already read it.
Have you, though? If you have, what did you think about it?
Personally, while some parts were dragging and petty, I loved it. The strengths made up for the weaknesses.

Someone starts babbling about the government and a book and I'm supposed to take time out of my day to try and figure out what the hell he's talking about?  Yes, I know I could have done that instead of posting, but I know I'm going to enjoy being snarky at someone's expense; I don't know that troubling myself to do research on a book will give the same benefit.  So.

Uh, i'm with Surgoshan.  Why would I bother finding some nut.  In fact, I assumed he was mocking the guy.  On top of that, I thought doctorow must be a forum member who couldn't get the name, Doctor Owe! or something. 

Besides, I read 1984 and Brave New World, I'm sufficiently aware that the world is using them as instruction manuals.

I assume that Jill is talking about Cory Doctorow's book Little Brother.
So, I haven't read this yet, but I've been planning to.
I'm a regular Boing Boing reader, so I've been following Cory's exploits. I just have such a large queue of books sitting at home waiting to be read. I just finished reading No Country For Old Men and If on a winter's night a traveler, but still have a ways to go before I can get around to this.
The fact that a lot of my local libraries are carrying copies of this means that when the times comes I won't have a hard time looking for this.
So, tell us what you think about this book, and, more importantly, what it's about. (For all of the lazy ones.)

Yes, god forbid you actually learn something.

When I want to learn something, I usually turn on the Discovery or History channels (though they can be iffy in their balancing act between educational content and pandering sensationalism) or I turn to wikipedia, or perhaps I open a new book.  I can, and do, happily lose hours to educational pursuits.  However, at no time do I use someone babbling incoherently as a basis for my hobbies.

So, now that people have confirmed that Doctorow is worth knowing about, I've in fact wiki'd him.  If I come across his book somewhere, I'll pick it up, but I doubt I'll actively seek it out.

I was stating that if someone makes a post, they should at least clarify their statements.  Expecting others to do the work for them is sloppy. 

If you had read my post you would have understood my point of view.  I believed he was speaking in jest.

And now a more careful reading of Doctorow's wiki shows that he wrote Down and Out in the Magic Kingdom, which was a damn good book (though I've not read it in... shit, five years?  Isn't it available free online?).  Maybe I will seek out this book.
