NoBrandCon 2009 Art Request
Fargo:
Hello,
NoBrandCon is Wisconsin's premiere and largest anime, gaming, video gaming, general nerdery convention and we are held in Eau Claire Wisconsin annually. I am the current Head of Art for the convention and am looking for willing aid. If you can come to meetings on Thursdays starting September in Davies Center on the UWEC - Eau Claire campus, that is great but not required. If you wish to submit art to us; we need tee-shirt designs, flyer designs, submissions for the NoBrandComic, bumper sticker designs, art for the program guide, and more. This coming year's (2009's) topic/theme is 'NoBrandCon is Spaaaaaaaace!' We welcome any and all submissions and I can be reached for questions/suggestions/submissions/et cetera at [email protected]. This is not an ad for the convention, merely a notice to artists who wish to be published and/or recognized.
Also, if you are interested and available for instant work, we need an advertisement (8.5" x 5") and a flyer (8.5" x 11") for Kakkoicon.
Thank You,
Fargo aka Art Head NoBrandCon 2009

How much are you willing to pay
Fargo:
Hello,
This is not a pay for play contract kind of thing. It is more of a 'for the pride of being published' or 'the honor of volunteering your skills' kind of thing.
Signed,
Fargo

NoBrandCon makes me sad. Weeaboos are everywhere that weekend. I swear, I wanted to kill the girl in the homemade kimono that came through my line at work that Saturday morning.
Oh, and dude, I think there are only like two other people even remotely close to Eau Claire, me being one of them, and I won't have anything to do with NoBrandCon, when I can just go to the bigger con in the cities the weekend before. And I don't think the other person even likes Anime/Manga/Japan.
Fargo:
Hello,
Well I am sorry you had issues with one of the congoers this year, but we (NoBrandCon) are not merely an anime convention. We also run gaming, videogaming, and other general science fiction events too. Although, anime is one of our big items. Also, we are not like other conventions in that we get involved in the con a whole lot more. We have storylines for each year, we have mascots running around, we do the variety show, et cetera. Most other conventions do not do that kind of stuff. Next, I assume you mean Detour, while it is a great convention and I have attended for the past four Detours, I do nt think it competes with NoBrandCon. They are two very different conventions. Plus, I must defend the anonymous congoer in that not everyone can afford a professional costume or has the skills to make their own so it is a little mean-spirited and pretentious (not the precise word I want but close enough) to deride her/him for that. However, I wish you would think about coming but if NoBrandCon is not your thing, so be it unfortunately.
Signed,
Fargo
