Teaching myself bass guitar...
dalconnsuch:
dun da da dun da dun
theory, music theory, bass players on my opinion should be the most widely knowledged person in music theory in the band
know about flowing in keys, especially for your sweet little bass fillers
and understanding timing like a drummer, seriously, do that
airheadjames:
Okay pretty generic help but here we go,
i've been playing bass for like 4 years
self taught for 3 and 1/2 of them
get yourself a music theory book (sight reading for bass is a good satrt)
a teacher is important if you want to play with others but not quite required
the truth is you just have to play
if something doesnt feel right change it
dont feel compelled to play exactly like someone else
even on something on like how to hold the bass, people are different and so be different
do what is comfortable
and if you have anyother questions do be afraid to message me!

of sonic youth than everyone else, i don't like em and i think its noise, big deal
MOVING ON
dalconnsuch:
but to contribute?
i actually learned to play drums to give an enhancement to my bass playing, you'd be surprised how well a few months of dedicated drumming work
can do to your bass playing abilities, i certainly was
