Man, I'm so glad I got out of that place before it went completely downhill. I think I was lucky though, because I got along very well with most of my teachers. From what I understand, many of your teachers are incompetent assholes (why did Peter quit, why? He would have been the perfect Norwegian teacher for you). Just hang in there, things will get much better once you're done with school. I know it's hard, but try to think positive - you're almost done with it, only eight(ish) months left!

Actually you don't! Allergies are developed after the immune system detects a foreign substance and prepares a defense against it. The next time you are exposed to the substance (in this case I THINK formic acid but don't quote me on that) your body may happily send out the inflammatory response (AKA the troll method) to contain all those harmless nasties. So either you have to get an allergy test (and those fuckers are AWFUL, I got one when I was eight after a near-fatal asthma attack and I think I regretted the test more) or you just have to keep avoiding bees!

I saw New found glory, A day to remember, 4 year strong, and a few other bands that I will stop naming on friday. I was badly abused but the show was very good. I also saw a girl that I have a class with there, we hung out and ended up with some make outs. I somehow never asked her number. Maybe tomorrow i will ask.

I just want to mentions that NFG IS actually good now, they have gotten heavier and are fun. Every band was good, pop punk mixed with watered down hardcore is pretty good in my book.

Vendetagainst, whilst formic acid can be found in the other members of the the order hymenoptera, it is mostly found in ant bites. Whipstitch was most likely stung by a honey bee he manhandled and hence he could develop an allergy to anyone or a combination of the following components of Apitoxin: meltittin, apamin, adolaphin, phospholipase A2, hyaluronidase, Histamine (which I know for sure is involved in the allergic response), dopamine, protease-inhibitors and noradrenaline.

you might be right about that, though histmanine is released as a defense mechanism and I can't really imagine an allergy to dopamine (possibly Kerry's problem?). Noradrenaline is out of the question too because it's a hormone like dopamine (it's basically like a psychoactive form of adrenaline I think?) so an allergy to it would be hard to imagine.
So I'm looking this up because now you have me curious
-The melittin is an anti-inflammatory (which is counter-intuitive, isn't it?) and also anti-microbial, so at least bee stings are clean.
-Adolapin is another anti-inflammatory and also a painkiller (what the fuck, nature?)
-Phospholipase is the first one to shit things up because it destroys the cell membrane (the barrier that houses cells). It also decreases blood pressure (I guess maybe to contain the venom within a small region?) and prevents clotting. It also converts fatty acids into hormones that regulate the inflammatory response.
-Hyaluronidase dilates capillaries.
-Protease-inhibitors are anti-inflammatory

So I'm pretty sure Phospholipase is the allergen because it is relatively harmful whereas the other chemicals only regulate the reaction.

Apparently it took me over half an hour to write all this.

Anything can be an allergen really, the immune system only has to start taking offense to it. Phospholipase A2 is involved in the production of prostaglandins regulate the body's inflammatory response. This does in fact include bronchodilation and bronchoconstriction, the latter of which is part of a typical anaphylactoid reaction. Seems a likely suspect as an allergy is a form of hypersensitivity. Don't take my word on any of this cause the only medical training I've ever done is first aid and I'm in no way an allergist-immunologist.

haha. when i was a senior in high school i had a really bad case of strep throat. It required DAILY shots into one of my butt cheeks for about a week. I asked the nurse to alternate cheeks so that it wouldn't hurt to sit, but on the third or fourth day I had to get 2 shots, which ruined my plan. So i feel your pain, but it could have been much worse.

also, I thought scarlet fever was one of those diseases that was mostly wiped out, like scurvy and the plague

Dear Bloggles,

Today I was on my way home from a lecture, passing a sewage maintenance site (or at least some sort of mainteinance site involving a giant hole in the ground full of pipes and wires), when I noticed these two women staring down at something and looking kind of upset. I looked down and saw a man laying in a grotesque position over a giant pipe, with only the lower part of his body visible. The upper part of his body was hid behind a bunch of wires, and from where his head and arms seemed to be there were flying sparks. He was not moving, and it looked like he had slipped and accidentally electrocuted himself. I started babbling and asking questions like "Oh my god, what happened? Did you see him fall? Have you called an ambulance? Is he dead?", and the two women answered that they had no idea because they had arrived just seconds before me. One of them pulled out her cellphone and was just about to call an ambulance when the guy suddenly got up, casually like nothing had ever happened. Turns out he was a construction worker, and the flying sparks was a result of him welding pipes that weren't visible from our position.

So that was my adventure for today, I'm just glad it was a lot less dramatic than it seemed at first.

I once thought a customer had died at the bakery were I work, because he was laying over the table with his face down in his waffles, holding his cellphone in a death grip. Turned out he had fallen asleep because of all the medication he was on (he is an ex-junkie, big time smoker with all of the diseases that follows: HIV, COPD and a lot more that I don't remember).

I would almost always say be daring with projects like that. It makes them more interesting. Plus, I really enjoy Kafka, so that's cool. However, if this is one of the classes where you have an antagonistic teacher, you may want to be a little bit more conventional. If you're doing something outside of your usual comfort zone, it helps to have a teacher who actually wants to advise you.
