I went for a hike and poked some thistles. They're soft when they're newly opened!

I see them down here in NM too. And they are in the oddest places.

There is one in my subdivision. I have used it a few times, but I prefer different exercises, like typing posts into the QC forum.

They are common in Europe as well.

I don't know about the rest of europe, but they're absolutely everywhere in Denmark, and the kids rarely use them the way Redglasscurls does. They usually hang on them and dangle about like monkeys. Still good fun though.
