Est the real trick is to make it past the initial stubbly "there is a piece of sandpaper on my face" phase, which will take around a week. shampoo and condition the every day and it'll be plenty soft, once it gets some length.

I can go about two to three weeks without shaving just fine, it's just what comes after with the heat of the thickening layer of fur on my face that is the problem.

Honestly though, flippancy (is that a word?) aside: if you don't like the feeling of having a beard there isn't really a point to growing one. Sure you'd probably badass, but is that worth being uncomfortable? You are a pretty good looking dude either way.
