I think when you asked Leinad to "stop talking to us like you know us", he thought you meant "Australians" (as that had been the topic of the conversation), not "forumites". Hence his California comment: he was saying (if my interpretation is correct) that you know as much about California as he knows about Australia. Simple misunderstanding!
