N+
« on: 14 Sep 2008, 20:40 »

This game is amazing in total simplicity. I picked up the game for $20 and the weekend took most of my efforts just for single player. I haven't even touched the download levels or the multiplayer. This game is on XBLA, the DS, computer, and that handheld thing Sony made. A successful and simple game today.

I handed this game to my coworker today and she hasn't touched a game in over a year but was quickly sucked into it after a few minutes.

What kind of game is it? I saw N+ and thought you were going to make a funny joke about painkiller or something. About Nurofen plus.

I saw no reason to buy it for a ridiculous price from Microsoft when it's completely free online.

10 dollars is a ridiculous price? God forbid the people who worked on the game make money for it, right?

i've thought about picking this up either for XBLA or DS but then i remembered that are way too many games coming out in the near future and i just don't have the time or money.

played the demo on XBL though, and it was fun.

Also I would like to point out that the combination of Sailor Moon and faux-Kerouac / Sonic Youth spelling is perhaps the purest distillation of what this forum is that we have yet been presented with.

I'd really recommend trying out the game beyond the demo., the level editor is fun alone and multiplayer is so far seeming to be a brilliantly executed way to learn to loathe your friend's lack of ninja skills. I assumed I had missed the boat on this game and would be catching up with others, rather than speaking to a blank faced audience.

Sorry, I just thought word about this game had gotten out already.

It is not free online aside from maybe The Pirate Bay. This is a sequel made entirely of new levels and also has multiplayer modes. 10 Bucks is actually a good deal for 300 levels of platforming goodness, especially compared to some of the other straight Atari or Flash ports XBLA sells.

I could have sworn that I got it for free years ago when it had just come out, maybe I'm mistaken.

I paid $20 to have it on my DS. I can make levels for the game at work and upload them when I get home. This is what simple games should be, not a shallow collection of mini-games that are half thought out cash ins.

Also pirates are gayer than AIDs.

"N", the PC-exclusive original game, is free. "N+", available for everything and your mother, is not. It also has a ton of awesome crap, I guess. I dunno.

I never finished N after getting stuck somewhere. I'm guessing this wouldn't be a good investment for me.

I find the keyboard controlling to be very frustrating, particularly the very imprecise feel of when a jump can be made and when it can't.

Does the DS version do a better job of that?  I would like to enjoy this game, but I gave up on N out of "but I pressed the damn button at what should have been the right time, why didn't the game register it?" syndrome.

Maybe it's just my computer, but I doubt it.

Never actually played the PC version. N+ is $20 on the DS and has everything that the PC version contains.
