Buttfranklin:
I like the one of the yellow & blue train.

Here's a pic I've taken of a train: http://debellos.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=72#/d1tgf1n

gprimr1:
That's a cool picture too. I like the location. You have some nice naturescapes.

Carl-E:
Hey, I've been there!  I spend a week in KC every summer (grading AP Calc exams).  I've been on the bridge you can see in the background.  There's a kick-ass BBQ place on the left side, I think.

Actually, there's a kick-ass barbecue place every three blocks or so in KC...

I always try to get them to let me take the train, but they insist that we fly out.   :-(

Buttfranklin:
Yeah, I stand by the fact that Kansas City has at least the best BBQ in the Midwest, if not the world.  Gate's is my favorite, but Arthur Bryant's is more popular for a reason that's beyond me.

As for the train, it should be cheaper than flying or driving if yr alone.  When you have 3+ people it becomes more expensive to take the train, since the gas cost doesn't outweigh the ticket cost anymore.  It's about $40 one way to St. Louis from Kansas City including luggage IIRC for one person.

Carl-E:
Gates is  truly excellent!  I've had Jack Stacks, too, but it's pretty pricey.  Arthur Bryant got national name recognition at one point, but you're right - it's nowhere near as good as Gates.  But the best I had there was in a little bar downtown that I'll be damned if I can find again...

The company I do this contract work for won't pay for the train, only a plane.  Which is asinine, a round trip from central PA is about $320, much cheaper than plane fare.  It takes longer (there's a 12 hour layover in downtown Chicago), but the airlines are just as bad nowadays with the missed connections and insane routing - last year, I flew from central PA to Philly, to Denver (!!) then to KC.

Where the fuck's the sense in that?
