Great Flash Games
« on: 12 Jul 2008, 16:20 »

Basically, Kongregate.com is my new favorite site. If a flash game is good, it's on Kongregate with a full chat system, achievements, and a metagame that ties into the site's online CCG.

But the important thing is GOOD flash games. There's a lot of stuff that kicks ass, for example:

Gemcraft- Basically the best tower defense game ever made. It's incredibly well done and addictive and so much better than basically any other TD game.

Chronotron - Puzzle platformer that makes genius use of time travel. What Blinx for the XBox should've been.

Sonny and Monster's Den: Book of Dread - Both fantastic turn-based RPGs, with Monster's Den being a basic dungeon crawler and Sonny being the quest of an intelligent zombie to...uh...kill other zombies. They're nifty.

Dolphin Olympics 2 - The achievements make this game worth it. I spent basically 3 hours getting to the Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Fun, difficult game.

At any rate, any other Flash games worth playing out there, Kongregate or not?

I like to check this site, they tend to have some really good ones show up, I typically see the 'game-of-the-week' here first.  Not just flash games, they also have other stuff, like indie-developer type stuff.

More moments are now going to be spent on the interweb. Oui.

Agreed about Nitrome. However, Kongregate is not good for my computer because I need to underclock it for it to not overheat. In other words, it is a shit computer which does not like chat systems. Any solutions?

That's annoying, I think it's the chat system that's maxing out my CPU on my laptop. Kongregate is still too much of a fantastic site for me to not use it though. Sonny is a great, great game!

Damn, I saw this thread and came in all excited to tell people about gemcraft only to find it as the first game listed by the op. It really is that good though.

Update on my problem: If I track down the author's site for a game and then use the page source to directly access the .swf file for the game, then I can play sans chat and therefore at a normal speed.
