Thlayli:
I should explain. The gravel on the beach was newly shipped from a quarry. Gravel quarries do a lot of their mining by detonating powerful shaped charges to loosen the rock. The charges found were undetonated, nearly intact, as opposed to the spent casings. Bomb squads were called; much fun was had.

Vendetagainst:
To be fair though, the explosives were probably ANFO mixes or else PETN/RDX-based charges, all these things are very unlikely to pose any significant threat of unplanned detonation.

Junodog:
I live in Crested Butte, CO, which is known as the Wildflower Capital of Colorado. I'm too damn lazy to find wildflower pictures, though, so I'll focus on something else.

We get some snow in the winter:

That building is where I live. It's an art gallery with an apartment on the second story. And that's my dog.

And bears in the summer: Youtube link because I'm too damn lazy to find actual pictures at the moment.

We also have mountain passes.
Link.

Many of which you wouldn't want to drive through.

And no fast food chains because we're a historical district. We also have festivals and free concerts and hippies a dragon and shit. Here's the pictures I can find easily:

Huge pic.

Oh, and there's a ski area with the most lift-accessible extreme terrain in the northern hemisphere.
We also have a population of around 1500 and 30 or so restaurants/bars, many of which are a block or less away from my house.

I linked most of those pics because this post turned out to be a lot longer than I expected and there's really a lot of different sides to Crested Butte. It's pretty awesome if you don't mind driving 30 miles to get most of your essentials.
And snow. You kinda have to like snow.

Note: Some of these pictures I took, and some I didn't.

And hell, if need be, we could go fishing out our bedroom window!  Perfect situation.  I'll have to mention that to the guys who own the lighthouse.

imapiratearg:
Oh my god, Junodog.  I am so jealous.
