Electronica/Techno

I enjoy some Eurotrash techno myself-Basshunter.
I would suggest that you check out Ratatat (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBedwedu01k ).
Very good stuff, for both mellow (electronica meets rock) and some dance.
However any chance I could get some recommendations for Basshunter-ish musicians?
Thnx.

I would try Egadz! and Azeda Booth. I haven't seen them mentioned and they really should be, and seem to fit in with the music that you tend to listen to.
JD:
OOO and Zero 7 maybe?
oh and Moderat, it would be rather silly if they weren't mentioned.

--- Quote from: Hat on 09 Aug 2008, 18:50 ---That Ishkur guide is actually one of the least pretentious explanations of the various subgenres of electronic music you'll ever hear, it's quite aware of the arbitrariness of a lot of the distinctions and doesn't have a lot of airs like most serious electronic music fans you'll meet.

It's been a year but I'ma call foul on this one. The Ishkur guide, while comprehensive, is awash in the same speechifying that you'll find from any serious electronic music fan. Everybody's got their little cubby hole in the expanse of the genre. You just replace "pretention" with "populism" and you end up with this guy whinging about how even though Trance is total bollocks now it's really great, you have to appreciate its roots, and at the same time talking shit about William Basinski or Stars of the Lid and questioning whether they even make music. If you're going to get into whether or not something is actually music, you should not be given a website that is even remotely considered authoritative by anyone.
Really the whole rift between clubrats and headphone kids, hip hop-derivative fans and electro-derivative fans is pretty funny. Musical politics.

I thought it was pertinent to mention in this thread that I uploaded the new Shpongle album in the mediafire thread (one page behind the current page). It's fucking awesome. If you want the word "psychedelic" associated with your electronic music at all, it's basically first on the list of stuff you should listen to.
