I think Britain during the 50's was not a happy place and most people wore bowler hats then.

Liz, I like the flannel! It is a very nice flannel! I just think that asking it to be fashionable is more than its flannely little heart can take!

I had a red plaid (cotton, not flannel) button-down dress that was awesome and cool and your shirt just makes me miss it more. (I wore it with a big black belt around my waist sometimes, sometimes without that and with low top black chucks, sometimes with teal flats, sometimes with black tights and heels... it was the most versatile thing I owned). OH GOD WHAT HAVE I DONE. I have given my flannel shirt's little flannely heart a heart attack. I am the worst person.

I probably will not wear it often but I liked it with that outfit. It will probably come along for spring break to be used as a work shirt, so maybe it will get all beat up and I won't be tempted to wear it for fashion again.

They make my feet look enormous. That's the problem I have with them on most people (that or giant ass) and I'd fooled myself into thinking these didn't cause that optical illusion. They do.

I see why you might think that, but I disagree. I cannot really tell whether you are wearing shoes or sandals, but they look sorta like shoes, and your feet don't look big, they look normal sized.

Before I'd read your comment, I'd assumed the complaint was against the wash and the weird fake wear on the calves and knees*.  The cut suits you well!  Skinny jeans don't make feet look fat, especially if paired with the right kind of shoe.

*I have never gotten this.  It looks bizarre and how would you even fade the calves on your jeans out so much (save riding on horseback for Attila the Hun degree hours each day)?  Jeans with random splotches of white color are never all that flattering, and can be disastrous if the placing is off.

To be fair, the wash isn't quite so horrifically blue, picasa kind of did that without my asking when I brightened up the picture to make it a little easier to see.
I don't get the weird wash thing either:/ Sometimes it's very very hard to find girls jeans without it though, so you settle if they fit well otherwise.

Amanda where is your butt?

Skinny jeans are fine if you're not wearing clunky shoes. Try wearing them with flats. Your feet don't look huge though, the only real issue other than the wash that phooey mentioned is the way in that picture your legs look like they bend in a wierd way, but I think that's because of how the bottom of your pants sit on your shoes.

I think those jeans suit you quite well, and I can see what you mean about the shoes. I just think you are wearing the wrong ones for those jeans. Also a big bulky jacket/coat with skinny jeans can look.... oddly proportioned (maybe?) on some people.

Does anyone have good recommendations for some decent (and probably not too expensive) hiking and/or running shoes?  I am serious about actually trying to do exercise when it gets nicer out, but hiking and running are things you can't do very well with skate shoes that are almost a year old.

I always wore my Saucony's when hiking, because I never got hiking boots. Anything with traction should be ok. Skate shoes definitely don't have traction, especially when the ground is wet.

I'm looking for something with better ankle support, really.  Traction I can more or less deal with, but I really don't want to roll my ankles.

In terms of running shoes, I need something with good arch support and that breathes well.  I have flat feet that start to smell when they haven't been aired out.

@ Redglasscurls: I realize this is a little after the fact, but while I am not a fan of skinny jeans, there seems to be nothing wrong with yours, aside from the aforementioned illusion of gumby legs, and the fact that they make the world out of focus.

I can not wear skinny jeans, so those who can will have to do it for me.

That's because what people like to call skinny jeans now are actually DENIM LEGGINGS.

Serious question though, what WOULD you call what I'm wearing? They're obviously skinnier than bootcut pants, but I don't really know what the hell they are. Just weird.
