Seriously though, I suppose that is a good reflection on manga art. I mean, despite the fact that the artists are mostly Asian and the characters are all from Tokyo or Hong Kong or something, the characters rarely look Asian.

That's just because you live in a white society. Actual white characters in manga are differentiated from the standard Japanese character.

At the same time, though, this is an avatar maker, not a manga creator, so the avatar features should be flexible enough to produce an avatar that can be readily identified as whoever it represents.

That's a good article though, thanks for the link. I've never actually paid too much attention to what ethnicity the characters look like (I started reading comics when living in Korea, so that fits what the article is arguing,) I was just agreeing with your statement.

I'm not accusing you of anything, it's just that your comment echoed a common sentiment, sorry.
I would argue that it's aping the manga style, namely, big eyes and flat faces, rather than actually creating manga.
