Tommy why is it you only listen to bands that have ADD or bands that take too much Valium.

It is an interesting contrast is all I am saying.

Complete/Hoogie Boogie Land - The first thing that comes to mind when I hear this song is "Why?" I just can't understand why anyone would want to listen to this band. I was in a band in grade 7 that sounded like this. We didn't know how to play our instruments either. In Hoogie Boogie Land there is no war, there is no hate, and apparently, no good music. I would like do redirect fans of this band to a band on myspace http://www.myspace.com/redlodgesongs .

Mogwai/Hunted By A Freak - Trippy as fuck. Pretty epic too. Dig the intro. By a minute 45 I kinda wish the song would start going somewhere. This songs sounds like it should be in the movie "300". Give me some zoomers and and hour and I'll come up with something better than this.

There is now a queue for the next round of this. He'll review Ladytron and then the remaining requests (five, by the looks of it) tomorrow night. Then we can get a queue in.

Right now he's just typing as he listens to them. I'm thinking of switching up the format to get a more visceral response out of him. Any suggestions?

Ladytron/Destroy Everything You Touch - Is there anything in this song I can touch so it goes away? This is uber-boring music. If there is one thing I hate it's depressing music. I don't understand it. I like music that makes me want to go out and party, or just sit around and chill, not go be sad about life. John wants me to recommend a band to listen to that is similar to this, but I'm not going to do that. I don't listen to depressing shit.

Tomorrow night is Round Tommy:

Beat Happening.
The New Year.
Gang Gang Dance.
Make Believe.

I've decided that the plan for tomorrow night is to actually record his responses and then type them up. The format will be more like an interview.

Stay tuned.

On that note I would like to append Art Brut to the list. Whether this song or My Little Brother I don't really mind, but I love this song so much more.

Does the thead think an opinion of Brokencyde is needed, or is that far too wretched?

I'll add Brokencyde to the list. He might lose interest before we can get to some of these bands but I'm going to try and keep this thread going for as long as I can.

I've updated the original post to contain the list of bands.

Ten bucks says Ian stops listening to Brokencyde within the first 30 seconds. Or at least violently retches for the "stop" button while Johnny C tries to stop and sedate him.

  • Whats it going to be, eh?

I saw something like this on New York public television. They had one episode where they played Animal Collective to kids and then one episode playing Animal Collective to people in a retirement home.  It was really funny!

I saw go with Deerhoof though!

So I just tried recording him and the microphone didn't work. He had some uh opinions on these bands I tell you what. We'll try again tomorrow and hopefully not get fucked up by technical difficulties.

On the other hand he told us about how he once went to a house party and didn't like the music so he downloaded a song by Billy Squier.  Also he told us that Beat Happening make a good one-man band.

Yeah, mob goes wild should be good, but it still feels like he would be missing a lot, Mob goes wild is about as far from Spacegrass as anything can be, and Spacegrass is miles away from Electric Worry.

God, Electric Worry is amazing.
The only reason I think fondly of my ex is because he introduced me to Clutch. Electric Worry was the first song I heard by them.
