oh man...

no one has mentioned Jerome's Dream....Probably my favorite 90's screamo/whatever band. their discography should still be available. probably one of my favorite bands of any genre, actually. amazing band. please, check them out.

also, I was never a big fan of orchid, but I own dance tonight/chaos is me. sounds repetitive to me.

Indian summer I enjoy, picked up hidden arithmetic last week.

Dude, Jerome's Dream is absolutely fucking absurd. The singer doesn't use a vocal mic so his voice slowly deteriorated. He would vomit blood after shows. The band had to break up because he destroyed his vocal chords. Basically he sounds hilariously ridiculous. They're worth listening to just for that.

I highly recommend Amanda Woodward. It's French screamo. And it's really good.

Surely he used mics for recording.

Good job they played short sets, or his throat would be totally destroyed.

Far as I'm aware vocals were recorded by placing a mic on the ground while he did his usual thang.

That fact about the vocals makes Jerome's Dream sound like a much more gimicky affair than they really were. That shit was intense. Earlier stuff works along that screamo/grind spectrum but with a weight that sets it apart, and the later stuff (with vocals done through a megaphone due to the aforementioned throat rape the vocalist went through) sounds kind of like a proto-Daughters' Hell Songs.

But yknow. Different.

OH, anyone heard the Jerome's Dream/Usurp Synapse split? The US side is IMMENSE.

both sides are fucking ridiculous.

i can't decide whether that's my favorite US split or if the one with hassan i sabbah is my favorite.

where is all the saetia love? the sweetness and the light has to be among the greatest screamo songs, ever. i really wouldn't be able to tell you why. maybe it's the lyrics. yeah, probably the lyrics.
