try listening to Sugar, Bob Mould's post-HD project.  and then get the latter HD stuff and move backwards.  took me a while to get into them too.

Eh, don't worry about it.  They had their moments but are one of those bands people talk about more than listen to.

Like Slint.

All of my records, alphabetically by album title unless I download or buy something that came before where I am in the alphabet at the moment.  I'm 100% serious, I kind of went nuts for about a year with the downloading and realized that I hadn't actually heard a fairly substantial chunk of the music in my library and I figured this method would be the most likely to allow me to hear it all eventually.  I thought about going alphabetically by artist but didn't want to get sick of any artist that I like (I'm particularly thinking of Guided by Voices here who are one of my favorite bands but I would imagine after listening to them for several days straight they might get a little old).  Anyway, I'm currently almost done listening to From the Muddy Banks of the Wishkah by Nirvana, after this it's Lee "Scratch" Perry - From the Secret Laboratory, Tommy Guerrero - From the Soil to the Soul and a 7" compilation called Fuck You Spaceman.
