Just learned how to play this one. "Let's Get Lost" - Elliott Smith.

And now to work on some Sara Bareilles (fucking gag, I am getting so tired of blue-eyed soul, I feel like I'm listening to the fucking Ally McBeal soundtrack) for a friend of mine to sing while I play it at open mic this week. Oh, the things I do for my friends.

EMI have released the whole of an iconic series from my youth - the "Great Cathedral Organs" (of Britain) series, recorded by Brian Culverhouse in the 1960s. Many of these organs have been rebuilt since then, and two of them scrapped and replaced, so these recordings are an important slice of the past (for those who are interested). I have listened to the ones I once had on LP, and am now working through those that I missed out on.

Costello was probably the single strongest performance I've ever seen, and it was just him and an acoustic guitar. It was fantastic.

Haydn String Quartets - the greatest single contribution to the medium (followed by Beethoven and Bartók in no particular order). I am listening to the early ones played by the Kodály Quartet, and the late ones played by the Takács Quartet.

Fleshgod Apocalypse - Agony.

My darling son is behind me, playing with his new-noise-making toy, so on occassion Fleshgod seems to use really bad samples of dogs barking, sheep bleating, trains ... training ... it was weird the first few times.
