Other appearances of QC

I've been doing some catching up lately on some other webcomics. I've noticed QC referenced in three individual comics. These aren't guest strips by Jeph-- these cartoons by the regular cartoonists for that strip:

The sign right behind the three people and a dog singing:
http://www.girlgeniusonline.com/comic.php?date=20070321

The poster behind the woman in the first panel:
http://www.somethingpositive.net/sp08032007.shtml

And the guy in the middle of the last panel:
http://www.somethingpositive.net/sp11022007.shtml
(Although that's Jeph himself, rather than a direct reference to the QC-verse).

Does anybody know of any other times when QC is referenced in a regular web-cartoon?

Wasn't there a webcomic that had a giant robot with similarities in appearance to Pintsize?

Surgoshan

Something Positive had a sortakindamaybe crossover with QC a while back.  Davan was discussing the suicide of some author and, as a joke, when Milholland drew the suicide in black and white (author in car shooting self in head with gun), he added Faye

So Jeph drew Davan and Nancy as background characters at coffee of doom.

Following which, Milholland showed that Davan and Nancy had indeed stopped for coffee.

Wow, that's actually really really cool.

rancidhooligan

That is cool.  I always sort of thought the people in the background looked depressed like that because of what Faye was talking about.  Weird.

Michael Nehora

There's also this cameo exchange from December 2005:

Amy and Shelley from Scary-Go-Round

and

Marten and Faye in Scary-Go-Round (plus Pintsize image in background)

SGR then followed up with a brilliant send-up of QC's conversational style:

"Shut up shut up shut up" (x6)

Surgoshan

It's weird, but while Shelly, Amy, Ryan, Tim, and etc all look pretty normal in Allison's old photoshop style, Marten and Faye look unbearably creepy.

Actually, you're right-- I looked around on the archive for a while and found this one:

Which has a guest appearance from Lil' Sis and Clango Cyclotron of Diesel Sweeties.

I read both Something Positive and QC but never made the connection. (But I was reading them at different speeds.) They're all really cool.

Here's the QC page of a site where someone slightly too fond of exclamation marks records every cameo and crossover in webcomics. Gotta catch 'em all!

Something Positive: look at the book Aubrey is reading.

Man, if I was the sort of person who quoted things like that in my signature, I'd quote that it my signature.

JReynolds

Doug: Wow, thanks!

I had no idea that there were so many cross-references.

did anyone notice jeph appearing in http://www.overcompensating.com today??? He gets drawn there every once and awhile.
*was getting tired of that slug*

I thought it was great. I love that Randall Munroe from xkcd is a stick man. I mean, of course he is.

You'll also notice a reference to "Order of the Stick" on one sign.  Go one comic back and you'll find references to: Waspi Square, Dominic Deegan, Gunnerkrigg Court, Something Positive, and several others...

It's good to see Winslow getting some recognition out there, but I'm definitely missing something about that comic.  What's the deal with the girl's shirt (is that a weird stain or something?), and what does it have to do with why she and Winslow are in love?

Surgoshan

That's not a shirt.  That's a chassis.  She's a robot made from a mac (G5, I believe).

muteKi

She was in a QC comic as well, I think. I can't find it right now, though.

Orbert

Ah, now it all makes sense.  Thanks!

I think there was a Shortpacked where the characters visited Coffee of Doom, but damned if I can find it on the site... Willis needs to do something about his archives over there.  :-P

EDIT: Took a while, but I found it.... http://www.shortpacked.com/d/20060202.html

The Marten in the background of that is brilliant!

"Being human, having your health; that's what's important."  (from: Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi )
"As long as we're all living, and as long as we're all having fun, that should do it, right?"  (from: The Eccentric Family )

Surgoshan

And Dora's wearing her dickfish shirt!

Orbert

I don't read Shortpacked!, so at first I thought the main characters were supposed to be Faye and Marten.  They do look rather Faye-ish and Marten-ish.  (Coincidence?)  But then in the wider shot we see the "real" Faye and Marten, and Dora behind the counter.  Pretty cool.

That is one heck of a Pizza Girl picture!

Truly!  It's hard to tell whether she's going to deliver that baby to a dozen starving homeless people, or take out a dozen bad guys with it.

While I checked and couldn't find any other references to this on the board, I thought I'd share this, since it's related to the thread here:

In today's podcast of the Devils Panties, Jennie was wearing a QC-shirt.
