That was fucking gorgeous.

But I like how no one is actually making any bad covers, and that's the whole purpose of the thread.

Goddamnit Johnny, stop being so good at covers.

Here is me turning this song terribly emo. I warn you, the quality is horrible. Also, the vocals in the beginning are horrible and stupid, but I don't feel like redoing them.

Prepare yourselves before you listen to this. There is not one thing that isn't shitty about this cover. I mean, seriously. You do not know shitty until you have listened to this.

Doing this wouldn't have been nearly as fun if I'd been taking it seriously.

Oh my god it sounds like a really bad country song.

Gemm, what happened to your really nice voice from that demo track?

Therein lies the point. Make it something better than it already is.

Basically I just want to hear Johnny singing "Dirty baaaaaaaaaabe, you see these shackles baby I'm your slaaaaaaaaave. I'll let you whip me if I misbehaaaaaaaaaave, it's just that no one makes me feel this waaaaay."

I wholeheartedly approve. My Chasing Cars was too embarassing to be submitted.

How involved do I have to be in the cover? I really want my female bandmate to do lead vocals.

I did it just now, actually.  Prepare to have your minds (or eardrums) blown.

Box.net seems to hate me, for some reason, so I'm doing Mediafire.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN.

P.S. The mic I used to record this on sucks.  So you'll get popping at any volume, as far as I know.

I'm working on a shitty "Song Against Sex" cover, but I don't have a trumpet or a kazoo. I figure I'll just yell out the trumpet parts.

I don't actually think my version of "Chasing Cars" is all that bad.  I just thought it was weird.  I like it more than the original, though.  (Is it conceited to think that?)

Which song are you referring to?

Also,

See, this is something I want to hear YOU sing.

It will take a lot to get me to sing this for you.

Since everyone seems to be doing their own thing, and none of the songs anyone seems to be picking are bad songs, I think this thread should be changed to something like: "Show Us Your Covers Thread" or something.  Basically, this thread should just be for people who want to cover silly songs or makes silly covers of songs.

Surely it's easier to do a shitty cover of a good song, though? Or at least, it becomes more clear that that the shitness of it is down to you, and not the song.

Guys, I apologize for necroposting, but I feel like I have to revive this thread with some covers my friends and I recorded today.

Behold:

http://www.box.net/shared/0528d2om08

We do versions of "All I Want Is You" by Barry Louis Polisar (the song in the intro credits on Juno), "Anyone Else but You" by The Moldy Peaches, and we absolutely massacre "Eight Days A Week" by the Beatles.

NEW CHALLENGE?

I thought this was a great idea for a thread back when it was started...

Oh my god, I just checked it out on Youtube. "Hey, let's keep changing the key so it sounds dramatic!" And it's a big ripoff of Danny Boy. I'll definitely cover this, I'm sure I'll win for the shittiest cover because I'm a terrible musician.

Also, I really like Gemmwah's cover of Chasing Cars.

"You Raised Me Up" is to the tune of Londonderry Air (Danny Boy also uses this tune), and Josh Groban didn't write the thing. As wiki says, it's been covered more than 125 times. It still is a pretty terrible song.

I think I will do a bad version of "Suspicious Minds" by one Elvis Presley as soon as I can actually record shit again. Which might be a while, my friend has yet to finish fixing my laptop (and then he has to ship it, blugh). But it will happen eventually.

I hope you guys liked Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.

We didn't know there was a REAL version of this song until many months after we covered it. We sorta winged it.

I did a halfway-decent cover of Silkworm's "Nerves" this morning as a warmup for National Solo Album Month. I did everything (Drums, Bass, Guitars and Vocals) and it's not really that great. I'm a horrendous drummer (drumming on horrendous drums) and I absolutely fucked up the guitar solo, and my voice... probably doesn't really fit the song.

Regardless, there it is for you.
