JCVD - The Movie
Aimless:
Okay, I warmly recommend JCVD. I thought I knew what to expect, from the trailer, but I had nfi... and I mean that in a totally positive way! Don't read the spoilers and you'll find the plot to be pretty surprising.
The script is good--original, cool, funny!--as is the direction... and van Damme is much more of an actor in this movie than he's ever been before.
Apart from an annoying monologue somewhere near the end, I enjoyed every minute of JCVD. I actually feel like watching it again!
Give it a look if you get the chance. I think many--if not most--of you will find it totally worth your time :)
carrotosaurus:
I dug up this thread because I really dug the movie! Van Damme surprised the shit out of me because it turns out the man can actually act. There's a ton of times the movie pokes fun at his career and everything, and that's all fun and games; but the story is actually really decent. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Especially if you actually dig campy action movies like Bloodsport, and want to see Van Damme in a really different role...
Siibillam-Law:
I too have seen it and think it's pretty not bad
Better than any other Van Damme film I've seen, but that's not saying much
Better than any film I've seen this year, except when I decided to rewatch Infernal Affairs
Dimmukane:
I just watched it last night without subtitles. I was also surprised. Even though I couldn't understand pretty much any of the dialogue, I was still able to follow the plot without a problem, which I think signifies a decent script. Even if you don't like Jean Claude, it's still a pretty decent and somewhat atypical heist flick.
LucyStag:
I was utterly convinced that this thread was titled "XKCD: The Movie" and that it was actually getting made. I was very surprised that I had missed this news.
