Thread over.

Grammy nominees Bowling for Soup, no less.

I think I'd rather listen to something completely awful like Crazytown than "Breakfast at Tiffany's." At least Crazytown elicits some kind of emotion, unlike Deep Third Eye in Matchbox Playground. The late nineties were easily the dullest time for popular rock music in America, at least in my lifetime.

Oh hey, what about Incubus? I had a friend in high school that was really into them and I guess they were popular for awhile. Sort of a Korn klone with "meaningful" lyrics.

And then there's the Goo Goo Dolls, who were actually not bad until they blanded out and became popular. And then I thought, wait, do I only think they suck now because they are popular and get played on VH1? But, no, everything after "Boy Named Goo" really is that bland.

Anyone remember the Offspring, I know a guy who likes them but I swear to God they're just mediocre and reptitive at best.

Shame, because they did "Smooth Criminal" a great deal more justice than the original (at least, I sure think so), and more than half that album (ANThology) is really great shit. So much awesome guitar work. How was their next album on a whole, anybody know? I'd like to hear more from them.

Guys how about Stroke 9. They did "Little Black Backpack" (which was pretty excellent, as far as pop-"alternative" goes) and then they went "Sup, uh, yeah bye."

Dimmukane:
I only remember Stroke 9 for "Kick Some Ass" from the Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back soundtrack.  I was innocent, then.
