Guitar Hero Metallica Discussion Thread

I bet they are going to have a lot more songs than that, I think that they are trying to feed out bits at a time, to keep people excited. Hopefully they will be smart enough to add a lot of the earlier songs.

Alex C:
I like No Excuses (and Alice in Chains in general, actually), but I'm a bit suprised it was selected. I mean, of the major grunge bands, I'd say that AIC owed the most to the loads of guitar school of songwriting (Facelift's We Die Young is all about the Big Riff, even the tempo makes it some weird cross between a rocker and a dirge), but No Excuses isn't really very representative of that tendency. There's a fair bit of electric guitar on all of their albums, but the foundation of the Jar of Flies EP really was the acoustic guitar work and the Staley-Cantrell harmonies. I guess you can make a fair argument that it's a good way of adding some variety without completely breaking from the heavy riffing mold, since there is a solo and quite a bit of electric embellishment on it. I'm certainly not complaining either way; I'm not really into GH games, but the addition of No Excuses certainly doesn't hurt their chances of suckering me into this one.

But that song has no vocals, which this game supports.  So Blood and Thunder is a pretty good substitute.

Really?  I'm pretty sure there are vocals for "Capillarian Crest."  I just checked.

Yes, they are going to have 45 songs all up, and 60% are going to be Metallica songs. Which means they'll have to do a lot more than just Black album songs.

Nodaisho:
What about black album remixes?

Ooh, ooh, I know! They should do all of Load, and the single versions, and any radio edits, and remixes!
