That's not prog, that's just pretentious art-fuckery, which is not specific to any genre.
BTW, I love me some Sigur Ros, because I am a pretentious art fuck.

All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone by Explosions in the Sky
Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven by Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Young Team by Mogwai
( ) by Sigur Ros
Note: Meš Suš Ķ Eyrum Viš Spilum Endalaust works. Was the first CD I got by them and I enjoyed it.
JayJayD:
The lastest Maserati album Inventions for the New Season is pretty good, and it's said to be proggy, though I don't really know what that means.

Now hang on a second - I don't think you guys are being fair to this eddie chap.
What are the actual specific differences between prog and post-rock?
They both have long songs, lenthy instrumentals, jams, a lot of live recording, bowed guitars, etc. But what are the differences, other than one is cooler than the other at the moment? I mean, listening to the bands from each it's extremely easy to tell the difference, but I couldn't for the life of you write it down, and I plan on making a living doing such things.
So how about we stop shoving our knowledge in people's faces and help each other out here, in the spirit of the season.
