1300: Am I an awful person?

<< < (5/7) > >>

Wyr:
If they did break up, Faye would prolly take Dora's side, just so that she can keep herself from taking advantage of the situation. Penelope would have to use threats of violence to keep Raven from going to comfort the poor indie boy. But everyone would forget to tell Hannelore, and after some heavy drinking they'd end up in bed together. She'd wake up next to Marten, thinking the worst, start hyperventilating, and Pintsize will tell her to hold that expression while he activates camera mode.

norcekri:
Wyr, I like those ideas.  I'm not so sure about drink overcoming Hannelore's OCD and Marten's overweening niceness before either of them passes out, but there are a few compatible hints in the previous text.  Also, this could be the painful beginning to a breakthrough in Hannelore's behavior.  Yeah, I like it.

sonofhealfdane:

--- Quote from: norcekri on 28 Dec 2008, 22:44 ---Part of a strip's continuity is that there are always unfinished plot lines hanging about.  For instance, as far as we know, there's still an android boyfriend in Hannelore's closet (last seen in #1017).  She said she was going to send him back, but ...  :|
Have we seen the last of Genevieve (#677), or will she be the turning point in Faye & Sven's relationship?  Will Special Agent Alan Turin turn out to be Mr. Right for Hannelore?  Will Amanda return to steal Dora from Marten?  Will Marten miss his timing with Faye and wind up in a dead-end relationship with Jenny (one appearance in O'Surleys)?

And ... what about Naomi?  (That's from The Electric Company, not QC -- hardly an indie reference, but ... )

The strip is trying to shadow reality -- some reality, somewhere -- and is doing a decent job.  When was the last time your own life didn't have a lot of unfinished plots?  I might have hit a minimum of loose threads at graduation (high school and college both), but that's about it.  Think about it: the long-lived TV programs are the ones that leave us with plot threads all over, the continuing dramas.  Susan Lucci has been playing the same character on All My Children since ... 1972, maybe?  (I looked it up -- it's 1970.  38 years as Erica Kane, at least 10 marriages.)  In any case, it's that continuing interest that keep the fans coming back.

Oh man.  I started reading this thread and stood up to get a glass of water, thinking I'd make a speculative post involving the phrase "Hanners and Agent Turing getting it on in the Cave of 20 Asses", but, on sitting back down, found you beat me to the punch  :-o.

TMac91:
I don't think I'd want to see Dora and Marten break up, even considering the entertainment value.
Suppose it's just I've never really liked Faye.

Astroasis:
Did anyone else think of this thread when they read the latest comic?

I SO did. I was like, "What? Drama out of nowh- Oh. He's making it up. Whew!"
