Cooking is only dangerous if you do more baking than cooking. Cooking your own meals is actually a really good way to make sure you are eating healthy. I can usually cut the oil or sugar in a recipe by half and not notice any difference. Or add extra veggies, substitute whole wheat or brown rice, the possibilities are endless. Basically, what Katherine said.
I have all sorts of goals, but I'm pretty sure I'll have a lot easier time if I just drink less. Especially spending more time in the art studio, losing a few vanity pounds, and saving money. Damnit alcohol, why must you be so tasty and make me feel so good?

Ahem. Flambé much?
Cooking is wonderful though, I agree completely. And I tend to weigh about five pounds less the months most of my intake I've personally prepared. It's just easier to keep track of caloric intake that way.

agree with jill and katherine. cooking is great for eating healthy cos you're in charge of what you're putting into your food, and baking is an awesome useful skill to have (especially in school) cos not only is it a pretty fun and affordable hobby, it also serves as an excellent way to pay people back for study notes, or say sorry to your roommate who you did a mean thing to the other day, or cheer up someone who is sad cos maybe they failed an exam, or any of that sort of thing. i do a lot of my own cooking and baking now and about 95% of the baking ends up in someone else's stomach, but that's okay, cos it makes them happy and that was my intention anyway. and everyone likes baked goods! except diabetics.
i hear you on not being able to bake for yourself, though, i can'r do it either on account i have no self-control and it is so problematic :(

My fiancee likes to bake cookies when I'm around so that she can eat just two and then I'll eat the rest. She actually forces me to eat them all because if I leave any then she will eat them.

Being so thoughtful as to do all of these things should be a resolution of mine, but I'm really not sure if I would be able to do it.
