Magic: The Gathering QC Tournaments?

So, if we do tournament play, what rules should we be going by for banlists? I don't think it would be all that much fun to have everyone using 4x of all the moxes.

I'm having a hard time remembering what some of the cards are called, but I'm putting together a deck right now.

are we running MWS or apprentice?
apprentice doesnt have the new shards of alara set though

I've got apprentice, don't have MWS.

are we going to be playing in standard?

Nodaisho:
I think that some of the more old-timers would probably appreciate being able to use older cards, so they actually know what some of them do (besides Giant Growth and Llanowar elves, those things have been around forever). As I recall, standard is the newest however many sets, right?
