Superkid11:
Marten's examples are totally benign as far as I can see.
And a lot of those "Dora's abuse" examples are just Dora screwing around or being brutally honest.
(brutal honesty happens to be a quality I'm attracted to...)

Exactly!
I don't really think Dora is abusive. Sharp, and sometimes a little more honest than tactful, and plenty insecure, but no relationship is 100% delight all the time, and Marten has had a fair bit of delight, shall we say, in his relationship with Dora. It's hard to read a timeline in the strip since it's pretty time flexible -- I'd guess it's at least 6 months, maybe a year -- and ONE bad fight with a big make up afterwards? Award winning!
The one difference I noticed was one several others pointed out -- this is the first time anything -- ANYTHING -- possibly threatening to Dora/The relationship happened to Marten that he DIDN'T immediately tell Dora. He told her about Tai's piercing immediately, about Hanners immediately, about Faye right off -- but not this, and it is about as minor as Hanners. And, again, it's not a full out argument yet -- it's a 30 second maybe irrational reaction.
Hell, we are all spending much more time on it than I suspect Jeph or any of the characters will. Of course, in my case, I've got nothing else to do except cough and feel dizzy, so I'm good with it.
Bushbr:
th one where marten was being "possesive" is total croc!
1: he's kidding
2:Tai is kidding
3: he's horny
Mallli_kite:
Marten was about as possessive as Dora is abusive. Titles were ironically intended.
Bushbr:
